Four-time Canadian Country Music Association nominee and six- time Saskatchewan Country Music Association’s “Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year” award winner Codie Prevost is set to release his 5th album entitled “Radio” this fall. His lead single “You won’t sleep tonight” off his new album was recently released. Codie and his wife welcomed their second daughter on May 27th, 2017. We had a chance to chat with Codie about his new single and his career.
We asked Codie the meaning behind his new single “You won’t sleep tonight”, he explained that it’s for anybody that works on the road or away from home, about the anticipation and excitement of getting home to family. From personal experience the last night before going home from being on the road, he is too excited to sleep.
We asked Codie who his musical influences were growing up and he told us Paul Brandt. Cody felt Paul Brandt’s songs were written for small town people with big dreams, his songs spoke to him. Codie said he would love to interview Paul Brandt to see what his feelings are after being in the industry for so long. Eric Church and Keith Urban also have influences on him. Codie said from a songwriter’s perspective, Eric is one of the best songwriter’s out there today.
Codie has traveled over to Australia a few times over the last few years to perform multiple shows. He was telling us he had a friend over there that was in the music industry. His friend told him there was a good country music following over there, so with that information along with the curiosity of Australia’s summer being during our winter he went over for the first time in 2015 and played 20 shows in 20 days. His trip over was such a success he’s been back for a couple other tours.
As we concluded our conversation with Codie, we asked him what his summer plans were. He is going to be promoting his new single “You won’t sleep tonight”, playing some shows but mostly being a dad to his two daughters.
