With a larger-than-life voice, Tegan Marie was discovered when her father uploaded videos of her cover songs to Gen Z girls’ site, Sweety High. Featured as a Radio Disney Country artist, she has since catapulted into the national spotlight with several high-profile media performances and appearances including ABC’s Good Morning America.
Tegan Marie recently released her new single “Keep it Lit” and is currently working on her debut album in Nashvile. I had a chance to catch up with her this week. Below is our interview:
Jenn: Tell us a little about you?
My name is Tegan Marie and I am a 14 year
old country artist. Making music and performing is my life!
Jenn: Named as one of Rolling Stones 10 New Country Artists You Need to
Know. How does that feel?
Tegan: Absolutely incredible. I am so honored that Rolling Stone listed me as a country artist you need to know and I honestly still can’t believe it. I am so grateful for all of the support!
Jenn: Tell me about your new single “Keep It Lit”
Tegan: A lot of kids my age are using the term, Lit and I wanted to write a song that took that word and created a story around positivity. “Keep it Lit” is about keeping the positivity going and I hope it make y’all smile!

Tegan: The past few weeks have been amazing. I loved meeting Kathie Lee and Hoda and feel so lucky that I had the opportunity to perform my new song, “Keep It Lit” on such a huge morning show.
Jenn: Who are some of your musical influences?
Tegan: I grew up on Johnny Cash and Motown and really look up to all of the country artists right now. I look up to so many different artists for so many different reasons!
Jenn: If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Tegan: Oh man, I would love to collaborate with Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert, Kelsea Ballerini,
Thomas Rhett, Jon Pardi and the list goes on and on!
