Restless Heart Ready to take Stage at Cavendish Beach Music Festival

The Daily Musician’s, Sarah MacDonald, had the pleasure of getting to chat with Greg Jennings of Restless Heart today.

Restless Heart is composed of Jennings, John Dittrich, Paul Gregg, Dave Innis and Larry Stewart. They have enjoyed one of the most successful careers in Country Music history, placing over 25 singles on the charts – with six consecutive #1 hits, four of their albums have been certified Gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), and they have won a wide range of awards from many organizations – including the Academy of Country Music’s Top Vocal Group trophy.

Here is what Greg had to say about the group’s career to date, as well as their excitement about getting to perform at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival this weekend.

SM: 30+ years, 6 #1 hits, countless awards, and tremendous success. What would you say is the secret to the group’s longevity?

GJ: A few factors. We have really good people around us, and the biggest factor is great songs. I think if you have a great song, you’re set. Over the years we have had our songs used for weddings, shows, etc. and are still used today.

SM: This will be your first performance at the Cavendish Beach Music Festival. Will this also be your first visit to the area?

GJ: We’re actually on PEI today! We arrived about 40 mins ago. It was about a 30 hour drive up from Nashville, but we’re happy to be here and so excited to perform. We’ve never been to this area before. We usually perform a lot in Western Canada, so we’re excited to be here. We’re going to take some time today and do a little site seeing before tomorrow night’s performance.

SM: Your cover of Glen Campbell’s “Wichita Lineman” is beautifully done. What was the inspiration to cover this song?

GJ: We were working on a collection of cover sings together and some of the guys in the group really like this a lot. So we decided to go with it, and we will of course be playing this tomorrow night.

SM: I read recently that you guys are working on a few projects at the moment – care to elaborate on that? Perhaps some new material?

GJ: There’s a lot still up in the air right now as far as that goes. We’re not sure which projects we will be taking on first.

SM: What can fans expect from the performance tomorrow night at the Cavendish Farms Kitchen Stage?

GJ: Well, we only have a one hour set so we want to make sure to keep things fun. Again, of course we will be covering “Wichita Lineman”, and a lot of our greatest hits!
