Queens Place Emera Centre was jam packed Friday night with people of all ages. Local singer-songwriter Autumn Rae Carver, who just graduated from Grade 9 got to perform prior to opener Jason Benoit. Autumn has an incredible voice, she performed Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood and Terri Clark covers.
Jason Benoit opened up for The Washboard Union and did he ever put on a show! He sang some of his hits, his new single “Slow Hand” along with some amazing covers. He had the crowd singing at the top of their lungs and pumped up for the headliner. Jason is an incredible artist from Newfoundland, he is one of the Top 3 Finalist in the SiriusXM Top of the Country Contest, he will be at Cavendish Beach Music Festival in July and has a brand new single coming out June 22nd called “Slow Hand”. I can’t say enough good things about Jason and his performance. He had the crowd lit, everyone loved him.
On Thursday, I had the chance to sit down and catch up with Chris, Aaron and David from The Washboard Union at Warner Music Canada office in Halifax. Click the link to hear what they had to say: The Washboard Union Interview
This was my first time seeing them in concert and they completely blew us away. Now, I know they put on a great show, I follow them but when you are there in person it is 100 times better! The energy they have on stage from start to finish is incredible, their voices are absolute perfection together and the crowd just couldn’t stay in their seats. Queens Place Emera Centre is a great venue, there isn’t a bad seat in the place. This concert was the perfect kickoff to the summer.
