Dean Brody brings his Dirt Road Stories to Halifax

Dean Brody, who is a three-time winner of the CCMA Songwriter of the Year award, the 2017 CCMA Fans’ Choice, two-time JUNO award-winning artist and celebrated songwriter will be hitting the road beginning October 20 in Truro and ending December 2 in Cranbrook, BC for his intimate acoustic Dirt Road Stories Tour.

We caught his Halifax show and it was incredible. Jessica Mitchell opened for Dean with a great 30 minute set showing off her beautiful lyrics and incredible voice.

The stage was set up as a cabin complete with a fridge and a talking bear in the window. They had 4 chairs set up around a welcome to the cabin pillow with a range of acoustic instruments, including mandolin, fiddle, piano, accordion, ukulele, and dobro. Dean came out and kicked off the show with “Canadian Girls”. I was standing in the back of the venue and could barely hear Dean singing because the entire place was singing so loudly.

After the first 3 songs, dean welcomed 3 of his friends/band members to the stage to perform the rest of the show with him.

Everything about this show was personal and showed you a different way of listening to all of Dean’s songs. He stripped them down, told us stories and you really got to enjoy the lyrics on a more personal level.

Dean shared with us that he had a rough couple years but has come out on top. He said “Its better to be on top of the mountain then down in the valley”.

Check out his website to see where his next stop is on this tour and be sure to go to the show. You will enjoy yourself.
